Meet Carolyn Cooper-Murriel, LMFT-S,LPC, LCDC
I’ve always been passionate about helping people during difficult times. I hold a Masters’ Degree in counseling, from Southern Methodist University (SMU) and a Masters’ Degree in Information Systems Management from Florida Institute of Technology (FIT). I earned my Bachelor's’ degree from Excelsior College and majored in Social Psychology. In addition to my formal education I’ve received training in Trauma, Play, Internal Family Systems, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Group Therapy, and Marriage/Family Therapy. I’m a certified PREPARE/ENRICH administrator this is utilized for premarital or newly married couples in addition marriage mentoring for couples married for an extended period of time and are feeling stuck. My training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an empirically supported treatment modality for people struggling with trauma (adult & childhood trauma), anxiety, depression, repressed memories, and unresolved or complicated grief. I’m also a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. My undergraduate and graduate education along with my training has prepared me to provide counseling services to first responders, individual, families, and couples.

I earned a Masters’ Degree in Human Relations and a Bachelor's’ degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology-Criminology, both from the University of Oklahoma. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (80636) and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (12835) with over 10 years of experience working with adults and adolescents from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds who may be struggling with life transitions, addiction, self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. My past work experience includes working in acute inpatient hospitals, residential, and outpatient environments. In addition to my formal education, I am trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which is an empirically supported treatment modality for people struggling with trauma. My competency in clinical practice is a result of professional education and training along with a steadfast desire to help clients recognize their resilience.
